Quilts

Why I Quilt

I’ve often been asked why I quilt when I can just buy them already made (and often for less money than it costs to make them myself). I quilt because I enjoy the creative process of selecting the colors and fabrics and seeing them come together into something new. The serenity I get from cutting and stitching all the pieces is matched in only a few other of my creative pursuits (spinning and weaving). When I am working on a quilt for an exhibit or a gift, I feel a kinship with all the women who have combined fabric, needle and thread to create something functional and beautiful. I am part of a community of quilters and we share a long history.

The Quilts

These quilts represent a range of works in which I explore traditional and contemporary design and techniques. They include both functional and art quilts. Click on a thumbnail to view a full image of each work.
